Aid Box Community became much more than a place where I collected clothes. It became my safe place. Whenever I felt overwhelmed, anxious or depressed, I would go there.

Sometimes I would find something nice to wear, have a drink and some biscuits, or simply chat with someone. Those conversations, smiles and moments of kindness gave me comfort and reminded me that I was not alone.

The support I received helped rebuild my confidence. Being able to choose good-quality clothes, shoes and food restored my dignity. I often say that I can dress well without spending a penny because Aid Box Community gave me that opportunity. It wasn't just about receiving free items, it was about feeling valued, respected and treated with kindness.

Today, my situation has changed. I have been granted refugee status in the UK, and I am beginning a new chapter in my life. Looking back, I know that Aid Box Community played a significant part in helping me through one of the darkest periods of my life.

I am deeply grateful to Aid Box Community for the care, kindness and hope they give to refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants. They do much more than provide clothes or food, they restore confidence, dignity and hope. Their support has made a lasting difference in my life, and I will always be thankful.

Amina’s Testimonial

I arrived in the UK in 2024 to seek asylum. Everything was new to me. I was placed in a hotel near Bristol city centre, far away from my family and everything familiar. It was one of the most difficult times in my life. I was struggling with depression, anxiety and loneliness. I had very little money and couldn't afford basic things like suitable clothes, shoes or toiletries.

Every Monday, Borderland staff visited the hotel to provide information and support for asylum seekers. They told me about Aid Box Community and explained that I could visit the free shop for clothing and other essentials. They gave me the address, and I decided to go.

From my very first visit, I felt welcomed. The staff and volunteers were kind, respectful and friendly. They registered me, showed me around the free shop at their old location, and made me feel like I belonged. That simple act of kindness meant more than words can describe.
